Author C.K. Osborne has always been fascinated by ancient mysteries and the spiritual journeys of others. When she received a drawing of a Chinese woman from a psychic artist, Osborne was struck with inspiration. The result become her new novel, The Fledgling (published by AuthorHouse), the story of a young Chinese girl growing up in 5 B.C. Imperial China who finds the power inside herself to face her adversaries.

We can find the inner strength within us to cope with any challenges which may face us in our lives, says Osborne.

Ten-year old Su Ling is confused. Her parents have told her that they are bestowing a great honor upon her, but the honor quickly turns to horror. Su Lings poor parents send her to the workhouse of the local grand administrator. By sacrificing and crafting a disciplined lifestyle, Su Ling is later transferred to the Temple of the Heavenly Bird where she becomes a chosen one for a secret esoteric group, the champions of good over evil, but Su Ling soon discovers that good and evil are not black and white. In the aftermath of two traumatic episodes, Su Ling speaks out against the very group that she had sworn allegiance to.

Of her book, Osborne says, I believe the book is different because of its potpourri of stories within a story, including its colorful history of a past age with wars on a smaller scale which are mirrored by the more dangerous and larger wars of today.
