A Hamilton alcohol and drug rehab center is announcing that it has started a new program aimed at helping adolescents break their abuse of alcohol at Alcohol Addiction Treatment Centers.
According to a report from the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse, “2638 percent of all students report that in the past year they have been a passenger with someone that had been drinking, and 1720 percent report that in the past year they have been a passenger with someone who had had too much to drink.”
These numbers are alarming and should provide a wake-up call to parents, encouraging them to help their children avoid situations like this in their lives. Alcoholism is a disease that takes adolescents out of their reality. Yet there is hope through Alcohol Addiction Treatment Centers’ rehabilitation program.
First up is detoxification, taking the alcohol out of the adolescent’s body through cleansing procedures. Next is counseling and therapy, where core life issues are discussed, parceled out and looked at through the lens of 12-Step recovery.
Issues might include physical, emotional, spiritual or mental abuse. Drug rehab allows clients time to discern and figure out what is their truth around these situations.
Staff and clients, in time, might be able to share their experiences with one another. Sometimes, the only way a client will understand what is going on in rehab is when another recovering alcoholic tells their story.
